Meredith Keedy-Merk

Meredith is a Field Associate and Special Education Subject Matter Expert at PCG Education and Consultant with Indiana’s Project SUCCESS. She has over nine years of experience in special education, with a background in teaching, administration, and district-level special education leadership. Project SUCCESS is a resource center developed and managed by PCG in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Education to support higher academic achievement for students with disabilities (http://projectsuccessindiana.com). Meredith began her career at Oakcrest Elementary School in Ocala, Florida, where she taught students identified with emotional and behavioral disabilities and modeled classroom management techniques for special educators throughout the Marion County School District. Meredith was awarded Rookie Teacher of the Year for the 2008-2009 school year. In 2009, Meredith taught in a special education resource classroom within Indiana’s North Montgomery School Corporation. She developed visual learning schedules and modified academic curriculum for students ranging in ability levels. Meredith served on the Crisis Intervention Team to respond to a student behavior crisis, utilizing verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to decrease severe physical behavior and to prevent the escalation of dangerous behaviors. In 2014, at Flat Rock Hawcreek School Corporation, Indiana, Meredith was appointed Dean of Students and Local Special Education Coordinator. Meredith directed and coordinated special education programs grade kindergarten through high school transition for students with various disabilities, and evaluated special education programs to ensure that districtwide objectives for student education were met and valued by each team member. She structured, scheduled, and collaborated with special services staff, parent representatives, and administrators to establish a support team for special services teachers and parents within the district. Meredith implemented Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) in the K-6 classrooms, to motivate, reward, and monitor positive behavior across all school settings. Meredith holds a B.A. in Special Education from the University of Evansville, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Butler University.

Amy Howie

Amy Howie is a Senior Associate and Special Education Subject Matter Expert at Public Consulting Group and Director of Indiana’s Project SUCCESS. Project SUCCESS is a resource center developed and managed by PCG in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Education to support higher academic achievement for students with disabilities (http://projectsuccessindiana.com). Prior to coming to PCG, Amy was a special education teacher for ten years, including experience at elementary and secondary levels and covering a range of disability areas and instructional settings including elementary, secondary and vocational education settings. For six years, Amy served as an assistant principal in two Indiana districts where she led efforts to improve instruction and increase achievement by developing and supporting special education programming; Response to Intervention initiatives; and Positive Behavioral Support programs. Additional areas of expertise include use of evidence-based instructional strategies, assessment, special programming including s504 and ENL; parent and community involvement; and academic and behavioral interventions, specifically aimed at the secondary level. Amy has a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision K-12 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education.
