About This Course

Many people believe that early intervention is a key aspect of helping special education students thrive in the classroom. This course features high-level descriptions of each part of Early Intervention. You will learn about IFSP's and the evaluation and assessment process. You will also explore parents' rights and procedural safeguards, which will help you to understand Early Intervention and how it affects a students life.

*In order to apply for a CEU or a PD Unit, teachers have to complete all 7 courses in this series: SE501, SE502, SE503, SE504, SE505, SE506, SE507.

Amy Howie

Amy Howie is a Special Education Subject Matter Expert with Public Consulting Group. She is the Director of Project SUCCESS, Indiana’s Resource Network for Common Core State Standards for Students with Disabilities. In this role, she provides universal and targeted supports to teachers and administrators across the state. Amy regularly provides professional development to districts on assessment, instruction and programming for special education students. She works collaboratively with the Indiana Department of Education to respond to the individual needs of districts, building statewide capacity for increased achievement of students with significant cognitive disabilities.
